Constructive criticism

 Hi all, as I reflect on my journey in renewable natural resources engineering, I can't help but appreciate the incredible breadth and depth of our field. It's a mosaic of disciplines – environmental sciences, computer science, mathematics, political science, and economics. The interdisciplinarity is what makes our career path so enriching and complete.

In our pursuit of sustainable solutions, we navigate through the complexities of GIS (Geographical Information System) software and statistical programming. These tools empower us to analyze and interpret vast sets of data, providing crucial insights into environmental dynamics. It's both challenging and rewarding.

Yet, there's a realization that has been growing within me. While our education equips us with a solid theoretical foundation, I believe we can enhance its impact by striking a better balance between theory and real-world application. The tools and knowledge we acquire shouldn't just be confined to academic exercises and exams. We delve into topics like environmental issues and conflicts, conducting extensive research that often remains within the confines of our classrooms.

I envision a shift toward a more applied approach, where the theories we study are directly translated into tangible solutions for real-world challenges. Our projects, meticulously crafted for grades, have the potential to be more than just academic exercises. They could be solutions that communities desperately need.

Therefore, I propose a paradigm shift in our curriculum. Let's infuse more hands-on projects, foster collaborations with communities, and perhaps introduce internships that allow us to apply our knowledge beyond these walls. It's time to ensure that the work we produce doesn't merely serve as a basis for assessment but as a catalyst for positive change in our society. Let's bridge the gap between theory and application, transforming our education into a force for meaningful, lasting impact. I prefer not to comment on the infrastructure of my university

Timeless journey

 

In my "bucket list" exist: the enchanting allure of Egypt. There's a magnetic pull, an invisible thread drawing me towards the land of the pharaohs, and at the epicenter of this yearning stand the majestic pyramids. I long to stand before these ancient sentinels, to witness their colossal grandeur and feel the palpable energy that radiates from their stony embrace.

Egypt, with its pyramids, is a beacon of mysteries, a testament to a civilization that thrived in the sands of time. The very thought of tracing the footsteps of history and unlocking the secrets concealed within the pyramid walls quickens my pulse. I yearn to bask in the enigma, to let the magnitude of their construction resonate within me and to absorb the aura of the past.

Yet, it's not only the pyramids that beckon me; it's the kaleidoscope of Egyptian culture that adds depth to my desire. I want to immerse myself in the vibrant tapestry of traditions, taste the flavors of authentic cuisine, and dance to the rhythm of ancient melodies. And, of course, there's the undeniable allure of capturing these moments in pixels – freezing time through the lens of my camera, creating a visual memoir of my journey.

However, I envision this voyage not just as a fleeting adventure but as a symbol of personal triumph. I aspire to tread upon the Egyptian sands when I've achieved financial independence, allowing me to savor every moment without the constraints of a ticking clock.

And as much as I yearn for the pyramids, I recognize the world's vast expanse of wonders awaiting my discovery. Therefore, my sojourn in Egypt, though rich and immersive, would be but a chapter in a larger odyssey. A week, perhaps, to absorb the Egyptian marvels, for I dream of extending my travels to the sun-kissed landscapes of Greece, the artistic tapestry of Italy, the romantic allure of France, and beyond.

The world awaits, and with each step, I'll weave my own story, a narrative stitched together by the threads of exploration, cultural revelation, and the timeless magic of distant lands.

I wouldn't know how to define well whether to go to the past or the future because this moment is the future of the past and the past of the future, so for me time is a complex dilemma, I am left with living the "eternal present".

My dream job

 I am convinced that if you find something to do that you are really passionate about, you will feel like you are not "working." That said, I couldn't choose just one job, but something related to my career would be focused on public policy related to sustainable development. I know that politics can be boring and has a lot of text, but in my opinion it is an accurate way to change practices and modes of production. One of my dreams is to see Latin America be a sustainable continent where natural resources are used in all their stages and are known to be managed properly in harmony with existing ecosystems. I trust that we can move closer towards this goal that in my opinion we all win. Another important thing that I would like to work on is teaching about environmental issues at different scales, not only theoretical, but also practical, and being able to reach as many people as possible with this knowledge, I think it also contributes to a change in consciousness and mentality.

The best holidays ever

 Hi everyone! on this occasion I come to talk about my best vacation. Was on the island of Chiloé in 2022. We spent a week with my brother and we stayed in a house, we went out every day to a new place, this island has many beautiful places to visit, without a doubt, I would return. Another interesting point is that the climate is very pleasant (in my opinion), to describe it in simple words, it is rainy but not stormy, the temperature is neither very cold not very hot. This climate allows for a unique vegetation that I like too much.. My brother and I went out to eat at restaurants where the food was very delicious, it is important to mention that it is a seafood area like fish, seaweed and also mussels. The people are very welcoming and kind, which makes your life a little better. It is said to be the island of witches because it has many myths and legends, however, I did not experience any paranormal experiences, unfortunately.

Norway

Hi everyone:)...When I was in high school a science teacher talked about norway and it´s wind farms. In addition he mentioned that it was one of the most developed countries. Which aroused my curiosity about that country, on the internet I discovered many interesting things about its sustainability and its culture. Another thing that I discovered thanks to this country were the northern lights.

I hope one day to see its beautiful colors. Beyond its beautiful landscapes. I would like to go there to understand more about its mode of development and the way natural and economic resources are managed. I think it would be a great idea to go study and why not? working there, I think it would be a rewarding experience, you never know what life holds!!! You just have to be surprised. 

Now that I think about it, living in that place for a while would be a great idea for my professional development, linking it to the management of natural resources that is becoming more and more necessary in the world.

Hi everyone, we've reached the last blog;( I can't believe it. I hope you like the theme of water like I do:)...This is a Chilean government site run by the Ministry of Public Works. Which provides information about the country's waters, such as rivers, lakes. It ensures the correct use of water, in theory. It is an interesting site that I visit since I have the subject "water management" and I visit sometimes. You can see the news that there is about water, and hydraulic works. In short, everything related to water in Chile.

On the other hand, you can also carry out procedures related to water rights, such as requests for rights to use surface or underground water. You can make complaints about its misuse and other things about water. It's like a water police.

It is a site that I like because I find important information about water resources. And I can also find out what the government is doing to resolve conflicts related to water and drought. I recommend it to anyone who wants to use water in some way, be it for agriculture, building a hydroelectric plant (hopefully not), tourism and recreation, except for mining (not recommended).

I also recommend it to anyone who wants to know what is being done to correctly manage the water or someone who wants to make a complaint.

Lotus flower photo

The lotus flower is the native flower of countries like India and Vietnam. It is a plant that grows in swampy places, but still has a beauty and elegance that differs from everything around it. The lotus flower, then, openly expresses its elegance and great beauty, even when its cradle is a unpleasant space.

This flower, has many meanings for different cultures. In Buddhism it represents the purity of body and soul. But, for me, the lotus flower is proof that bold and bright life can emerge from the darkest places.Through the allegory of the lotus flower, one can begin to understand that, we can walk the path of existence with wisdom, despite the challenges and obstacles that stand in the way.

This flower interested me a lot, because of its beauty, then I discovered its different meanings, not only that, also the environment where it grows. I admire it a lot.

Legend has it that when the child Buddha took his first steps, lotus flowers grew everywhere he stepped...
